The Art Supply Co. (TASC) is pleased to announce a Call for Artist Portfolios for Art in the Heart at the Skinny Building, a public art project in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Artists are invited to submit samples of work to be considered for a commission of a temporary installation at the site, which is scheduled to open in Spring of 2024.

About the Project:

Located at the intersection of Wood Street and Forbes Avenue, Art in the Heart at the Skinny Building will consist of a cohesive multi-panel vinyl mural across the second and third story windows of the existing building. The mural artwork will be illuminated from inside the building to create a lightbox effect. This is a unique opportunity to showcase your creative energy across a large scale (the building is just over 300 ft. tall), including 24 windows for a total of 575.55 sqft.

About the Call:

For the inaugural display, Pittsburgh area artists and artist teams are invited to submit their portfolios for consideration. Artists will need to submit examples of existing works along with a letter of interest and intent explaining their vision for a newly commissioned work. Artists working in any 2D media are encouraged to apply. Examples of past public artwork are not necessary to apply, as technical mentorship and guidance is provided for the final artist.

Three artists will be selected and paid to develop sketches that visualize an original concept for the site. One artist will be chosen from the designs and will receive additional support to complete their digital production-ready files for the artwork. The TASC team will provide technical guidance throughout and coordinate the production print vendor and installer. Art in the Heart at the Skinny Building is scheduled for a public reveal in Spring 2024.
